Kaylyn’s story begins with strength. As a military child, she learned early what it means to say goodbye, start over, and find her place in unfamiliar spaces—five different times before she even reached high school. Through each move, she carried a quiet courage, building resilience, compassion, and the ability to connect with others wherever she landed. Those experiences didn’t just shape her—they became her foundation.

That same determination showed up in everything she pursued. Since the age of 10, Kaylyn has dedicated herself to gymnastics, where she learned discipline, focus, and the power of showing up even on the hardest days. In the classroom, she carried that same commitment as an AVID scholar all four years, while finding her voice and community through the Black Student Union and earning the respect of her peers and leaders as a member of the Principal’s Cabinet.

In high school, Kaylyn discovered a new passion—track and field, and especially the 100-meter hurdles. It quickly became more than a sport; it was an expression of her drive and spirit. When a knee injury her sophomore year led to surgery and nine long months of rehabilitation, she faced one of her greatest challenges yet. But quitting was never part of her story. With grit and heart, she fought her way back, returning to competition her junior year and rising to become Team Captain her senior year—a role that reflected not just her talent, but her strength and leadership.

Kaylyn graduates with honors and a 3.95 unweighted GPA, but her achievements go far beyond numbers. She leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, leadership, and grace under pressure. Above all, she is a young woman who never let obstacles define her path—and instead, used them to rise.
